The Alberta Elite Hockey League has unveiled its schedule for the 2021-22 season.
The newly formed league oversees U18AAA (formerly Midget AAA) U16AAA and U15AAA (formerly Bantam AAA) across the province. The regular season will begin for the U18AAA and U15AAA on October 1st and 8th for the U16AAA teams.
The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs will kick off the regular-season home campaign against the Calgary Buffaloes with a face-off scheduled for 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, Red Deer Rebels U15AAA get underway on October 2, when they welcome the Calgary Bisons from Buffalo to the Servus Arena at 2 p.m.
A week later, on October 9, the Red Deer North Stars (U16AAA) will also start the season at the Servus Arena for a 2 p.m. game with the Calgary Northstars.
For most of the province’s minor hockey teams, the 2020-21 season has been short-lived due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The league will also offer live streaming of matches on HockeyTV. According to the press release, “all livestreams will include live scores and in-game overlays, providing viewers with a high-quality experience and bridging the gap between arena and home viewing.”
The season will feature a total of just over 1,000 regular season games between the 57 teams from the three divisions.
The U16 and U18 divisions will be holding their demonstration week from December 2-5 at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Center in Edmonton.
The U15 Showcase weekend is set at the Leduc Recreational Center, from February 3 to 6.
