The South Boston Recreation Department held its fifth week of games for the Midget basketball league on Thursday with two separate games.

For the first game of the evening, the Hawks beat the Sixers with the final score of 25-19.

The difference in play was due to the Hawks’ success in attacking the paint, scoring 24 points from inside the paint.

Javion Hamlett scored a game-high 12 points for the Hawks in their win over the Sixers.

The Sixers were led by Lucas Ashwell who scored nine points on the day.

For the second game of the day, the undefeated Comets took on the Wizards and took the win with a final score of 33-20.

The Wizards were unable to keep the Comets inside the paint as they were able to score 28 of their 33 total points from inside the 3-point line.

Timothy Pounds led the Comets in scoring with 11 points, but eight different players entered the scoring column as the Comets were able to split the ball and find the open man.

The Wizards were led by Griffin Bryant who scored 10 points and made the game’s only 3-pointer for the Wizards.

The Comets are alone atop the standings with a 5-0 record, followed by the Hawks and Knicks who are tied for second place with 2-3 records which are followed by last place 1-4 Sixers.

The Midget Basketball League will host its final game of the season Thursday with the Wizards taking on the Hawks at 6 p.m. while the Comets take on the Sixers at 7 p.m.
