The Cougars play two more preseason games, Friday in Maple Ridge against the Vancouver Giants and Saturday in Victoria against the Royals.
The Cougars’ regular season kicks off on October 2 when they host the Blazers.

PG Kings of the Spruce:
The main training camp for the Prince George Spruce Kings takes place this weekend at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA). There will be a second scrum today (Sunday) at noon. The Spruce Kings open their 2021 preseason schedule on Friday, September 24 against the Centennials in Merritt.
Northern capitals:
The Northern Capitals women’s midget hockey team finished with one win, one loss and two draws in their first tournament of the season in Calgary.
Difficult defeat 3-1 this afternoon against the @ReginaRebels. Vanderhoof product, Ella Boon, with the only goal.

UNBC Men have two losses and two draws after four games as UNBC women have four losses. Trinity Western is 4-0 in the women’s standings and has one win and three draws after four games in the men’s division. UNBC soccer teams will visit UBC Friday and Saturday night before hosting UBC Okanagan on October 1-2.

The same teams meet again today (Sunday) in Toronto. The Jays hold the second of two AL jokers, one game behind the Boston Red Sox and 1/2 game ahead of the New York Yankees. Toronto has 14 games to play, 7 on the road and 7 at home. The (83-65) Blue Jays have five against Minnesota, three against Tampa, three against the Yankees and three against Baltimore.

Jared Young of Prince George has been batting .260 since he was called to AAA with the Iowa cubs. The 26-year-old first baseman has four home runs and 15 RBIs in 30 games.

East: Toronto and Hamilton 3-3, Montreal 2-3 and Ottawa 1-4.
