‘Triple C’ wants UFC President Dana White to give him the opportunity to become C4.
Olympic gold medalist and former two-time champion Henry Cejudo is eager to finally come back and continue to prove his skeptics wrong and win a third championship belt.
After defending his bantamweight title for the first time last year against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249, he retired from active competition, leaving everyone begging for more. Over the past year, Cejudo has teased a comeback on several occasions, only for the UFC president to knock down the rumors. Basically, after every big flyweight and bantamweight fight, Cejudo will jump on social media and pull his shot and say he’ll beat everyone.
Well, it looks like Cejudo might really want to come back this time around. In an interview with ESPN, “Triple C” says he’s thinking about the featherweight title and says it’s available.
“I’m still thinking of winning that third belt. I really do. I think it is achievable. I think anyone is crazy to count me. Yeah, hate the character, hate the cringe, but man facts are facts. I am an accomplished athlete, ”said Cejudo. “If you can name someone more accomplished in combat sports than I am, I will bend the knee. There are not any. He’s right here.
“So I believe so, I have the right to skip the whole damn line and fight [Alexander] Volkanovski. You know why? Because I deserve it.
Cejudo is right. He went on to say that he had defended his flyweight championship as well as his bantamweight championship.
The timing of Cejudo’s comments is perfect. Featherweight champion Volkanovski finally made the headlines of his first pay-per-view last month and gets the respect he wanted. It is the largest and most popular that Volkanovsky has ever known.
After Volkanovski defended his title at UFC 266, Ceujdo tweeted: “@danawhite I’m going to take the soul of Alexander the Middle # ufc266“To which Volkanovsky scoffed and replied,” Fu * k, Henry Cejudo… I’m going to crush the little germ. “
Cejudo messaged White and the fans when he spoke to ESPN, saying he wanted Volkanovski.
“With me, I’m going to face the best No. 3 pound-for-pound fighter, possibly the best featherweight fighter in history. Either I beat him or I get my ass pounded, you know what I mean? I take this chance, ”Cejudo said. “So this challenge is for Dana, the UFC, all those money guys and all the fans who don’t believe I can beat him. Let’s do it. Make sure that this happens. Talking is not expensive. It is not a character. It’s me. I tell the truth. Give me the opportunity, and I promise that this overgrown dwarf, the average Alexander, will bend his knee in front of King Triple C. Full stop.
