Mr. Jack T. Pence, 86, of Lindale, GA, passed away on Tuesday August 3, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Pence was born in Rome, Georgia on May 6, 1935, the son of the late Calvin Judson “CJ” Pence and the late Lucille Eads Pence. He graduated in 1954 from Pepperell High School where he excelled in athletics. Prior to his retirement, he worked for 42 years at General Electric here in Rome. Mr. Pence was one of the founders of the Pepperell Mites football program in Lindale and has coached youth for many years in football, baseball and softball. A basketball official until the age of 76, he was a member of the Northwest Georgia Basketball Association for 53 years and led the organization for many years. He was a member of Lindale’s First Baptist Church and the Grumpy Old Men Sunday School class. Mr. Pence married the former Jeanette Mull on October 14, 1954, and she was predeceased on December 27, 2014. He was also predeceased by a sister, Barbara Culp, and a brother, Bill Pence.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Ted Pence (Carla) and Tim Pence, all of Lindale; one granddaughter, Lindsey McStotts (Patrick), Silver Creek; one great-grandson, Houston McStotts, Silver Creek; one sister, Alice Jackson, Lindale; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with its pastor, the Reverend Eric Whelchel, and Mr. Barry Henderson officiating. Interment to follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, Sunday from noon until time of service. Masks are requested during visitations and funerals.

The nephews will serve as porters and his Sunday school class will serve as honorary porters. All are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
