Kyle Larson tells the interesting story of his Midget Racing partnership with Chase Elliott ahead of the Chili Bowl

There is probably no better duo when it comes to talent and individual achievement than Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson at Hendrick Motorsports. But during this offseason, the NASCAR duo also developed their partnership in track racing.

After competing in the Hangtown 100 together, the 2020 Cup Series champion and 2021 Cup Series champion are set to compete in the prestigious Chili Bowl as teammates again.

In a recent podcast, Larson was asked how this partnership with NASCAR found its way beyond stock car racing. He said, “I think we talked about it pretty early on, I think after seeing that he really cared about midget racing. It wasn’t just that he wanted to end it.

“I kind of wanted to do two cars with my team. I thought it would be fun to bring an extra car for the West Coast races and do the Chili Bowl. Yeah, it went well with Chase ”, Larson added.

Chase Elliott, who hasn’t particularly taken the clay court world by storm, admitted the experience was “fun” for him. “As bad as I did, I enjoyed it. I like the challenge of doing something new and I don’t think that has really changed for me ”, he said.

Elliott admitted that he saw and toured the racetrack with a keen and observant eye. It helped him identify the differences he hopes to work in his favor this year at the Chili Bowl.

He added, “I think all of these things will be helpful. Can’t wait to go, see the place a second time and hope it gets a little better.

The Chili Bowl Nationals will take place between January 10 and 15. Will favorite Kyle Larson be back to back? Or will his NASCAR teammate dethrone him and cause upheaval?
