Although he’s only 5-foot-3, there’s no denying that Muggsy Bogues was a commanding presence during his time in the NBA. So much so that the little keeper has had his fair share of on-court fights against the one and only, Michael Jordan.

Bugs recently invited Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson All the smoke podcast, and he was asked to share some of his favorite MJ stories. The 57-year-old then decided to open up about how Jordan enjoyed playing with him. Muggsy also shed some light on the infamous story of MJ calling him a “dwarf” (h/t NBA Reddit):

“MJ, he always liked fucking with me,” Bogues said. “…Even off the court, to this day, walking around, he’ll raise his hand for me to give him a high-five, and I’ll put my hand down, you come down to give me a low-five … They said he called me a “dwarf”, which is not true…. He always calls me little guy or little ass.

Here it is, straight out of the horse’s mouth. Bugs just debunked the tale of Michael Jordan once calling him a “dwarf.” MJ is a lot of things, and we all know how wild he was as a talker. However, it is simply not in his nature to use an unacceptable insult towards one of his competitors.

Muggsy Bogues, who was drafted as the 12th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, is without a doubt one of the most successful little men in NBA history. He has career averages of 7.7 points2.6 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 14 years of play.
