The Comets remain the only undefeated team in the Midget League

The South Boston Recreation Department hosted its second week of games for its midget basketball league on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Midget League had four winning teams including the Sixers, Comets (two games) and Hawks.

On Wednesday, the Sixers faced the Hawks in a game the Sixers won with a final score of 28-23.

Drew Morgan led the Sixers with 11 points, but Austin Elroy also helped the team to the win with 10 points.

The Hawks were led by LeMan Richardson, who scored a high 14 points in the loss.

The difference in the game came down to the free throws. The Sixers racked up 46 free throw attempts and converted 18 while the Hawks had just 12 attempts on the line and could only convert three of those attempts.

Wednesday’s second game was between the Wizards and the Comets, in which the Comets took the win due to their dominance from inside the paint scoring 24 points inside the paint en route to their 37- win. 25.

The Comets were led by Timothy Pounds, who scored 13 points in the victory.

The Wizards were led by Griffin Bryant, who scored 10 points but did not claim the victory.

On Thursday, the Hawks faced the Wizards in which the Hawks took the win with a final score of 34-25.

The Hawks were successful from inside the paint, scoring 32 of their 34 points under the basket, with LeMan Richardson leading all scorers for the day with 17 points.

The Wizards were led by Ryan Hendren, who scored eight points in the loss.

The Comets beat the Sixers in Game 2 of the night Thursday with a final score of 36-25.

The Comets were unstoppable in the paint, scoring their 36 points in the paint as Timothy Pounds, Dequan Ferrell and Kyriq Ferrell all scored eight points in the victory.

Drew Morgan led the Sixers with 11 points, but it was not enough as the Sixers failed to secure the victory.

Senior Teen League tied at 1-1 for the first time

The South Boston Recreation Department hosted its third week of senior teen basketball league games on Saturday.

The only game of the day for the Senior Teen League was between the Blazers and the Pistons in which the Blazers were victorious with a final score of 31-29.

The slight difference in play came down to the free throws in which the Blazers made 17 attempts and could only convert seven, but the Pistons only attempted six free throws, making four.

The Blazers were led by Jamir Ford, who scored 10 points, including six behind the 3-point line.

Joshua Williams scored a high 17 points for the Pistons, but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory.

The knicks remain undefeated in Junior Teen league

The South Boston Recreation Department hosted its second week of teenage junior basketball league games on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Hornets and Knicks were the two teams capable of securing victories in their respective clashes.

On Wednesday, the Knicks beat the Celtics with a final score of 34-28 behind the Knicks’ success on the free throw line.

Although the team shot 10 of 30 from the line, it was just enough for the Knicks to claim the victory.

Tyler Ford led the Knicks with 10 points, eight of which came from inside the paint.

The Celtics were led by Kohl Orendorf, who scored eight points in the loss, six of which came from behind the arc.

On Thursday, the Hornets beat the Celtics with a final score of 35-25.

The difference in play came down to the number of shots the Hornets managed to convert from inside the paint as they scored 28 of their 35 points under the basket.

Ty’rek Fountain led the Hornets with nine points on the evening.

Kohl Orendorf scored 14 points for a high point tally game, but that wasn’t enough to help the Celtics secure their first win of the season.

Cougars and Celtics Tied For First In PeeWee League

The South Boston Recreation Department held its fourth week of games for its PeeWee Basketball League on Saturday and Monday.

First match: The Warriors defeated the Explorers 17-14.

Game Two: The Cougars defeated the Nets 21-1.

Game 3: The Celtics defeated the Blue Devils 20-19.

Game 1: The Cougars defeated the Blue Devils 30-15.

Game Two: The Nets defeated the Warriors 15-6.

Game 3: The Celtics beat the Explorers in overtime with a final score of 17-13.
