The Clarkson Golden Knights’ women’s hockey program is excited to welcome 10 new faces for the 2021-22 season. The incoming group achieved a high level of success, both on and off the ice, before arriving at Clarkson. Their high work ethic, character and collective commitment will help our program continue to grow and compete nationally. The coaching staff look forward to working with these talented individuals and welcoming them to the #CGKFamily.
Here are your new Knights 2021-2021 in alphabetical order:
Gretchen Branton will wear # 18 for green and gold. The incoming freshman is a left forward from Corcoran, MN. Coach Desrosiers said: âWe are extremely happy to welcome Gretchen to the Clarkson family. Gretchen comes to Potsdam from Wayzata High School in Minnesota, where she ended her hugely successful high school career as a candidate for Ms. Hockey in Minnesota. At Wayzata, Gretchen had a knack for finding teammates and the back of the net consistently. His speed, hockey sense and passing ability will be a great addition to our roster. We can’t wait to have Gretchen in the green and gold. ”
Anne Cherkowski is a transfer from the University of Minnesota. Anne is a right forward from Coldstream, BC. She played 13 games last year for the Gophers, scoring 1 goal and 5 assists. âAnne comes to us from the University of Minnesota as a freshman transfer. We can’t wait to see what Anne can do in our roster. The experience she has gained as a leader of her team, as well. that winning gold and silver medals with Team Canada at the U18 World Championships in 2019 and 2020, as well as an academic year under her belt, will help her make the transition to Clarkson smoothly. “Said coach Desrosiers. Anne will be in her second year and will wear the # 24 for the Knights.
Laurence Frenette is a right forward from Boisbriand, Que. The freshman will wear # 15 for the Knights. Coach Desrosiers on Laurence, âLaurence comes to Clarkson from Stanstead College in Quebec, where she was captain of the Spartans. Laurence will be someone who will persist on the puck consistently and be able to set up teammates, as well as contribute on the scoresheet. . Her strength on the puck is something that sets her apart on the ice. At her most recent Hockey Canada (NextGen) camp last month, Laurence had great success playing with the best kids in Canada. We can’t wait to see Laurence skate in the Clarkson Green and Gold. “
Jenna goodwin is a left forward from Sherwood Park, Alta. Jenna is a new signing who will wear No.12 this season. âJenna comes to us from Alberta, where she has had great success in her minor hockey career, winning the Midget Esso Cup twice. His daily habits and work ethic help him stand out on the ice. She will be the first to step into corners for her teammates and has the ability to attract defenders to open up her teammates to her. She was a leader in her team (St. Alberta Slash) and her first team mentality will be a great addition to the Golden Knights. “said coach Desrosiers.
Olivia hanson is a transfer from St. Cloud State University. She will wear the # 9 for green and gold. The left defender is from West Fargo, ND. âWe are thrilled to have Liv (Olivia) as part of the Green and Gold this year. She comes to us with 3 years of St. Cloud experience in the WCHA. She brings a hardworking, experienced and physical presence to our D -core. Liv brings a daily motivation and love for the game that makes her teammates better. We look forward to seeing Liv in the Green and Gold this year, “said coach Desrosiers.
Baylee kirwan will wear # 10 this season for Clarkson. Kirwin is a left forward from Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Coach Desrosiers on the incoming rookie, âBaylee comes to us from the Swift Current Wildcats, where she was one of the top scorers on her team. She brings positive and contagious energy to everything she does. She is a smart 200-footer who makes her a tough competitor to face. Baylee will add basic depth and improve the physical mentality of our team. We’re excited to add Baylee to the Golden Knights. ”
In the fold the knights welcome Alexa Madrid. The Connecticut native offers great depth in the goaltending position. Alexa will wear # 30 for the Golden Knights. âWe’re excited to have Alexa join the Green and Gold. She comes to us from New Canaan, Connecticut, where she played in the USPHL U18 Men’s Division for the Connecticut Rangers Jr.. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic will be appreciated. a great asset. to our team, as well as helping to strengthen the fold for years to come. “
Andie Proulx is a right-handed defenseman from Sherwood Park, Alta. The incoming freshman will take over # 7 for the Golden Knights. Coach Desrosiers on Andie: âAndie comes to us from the CCSHL and St. Alberta Extreme, where she was named the league’s top defenseman. She has the ability to add to our defensive score, as well as skate good play to get her teams out of their defensive zones. Andie will bring a youthful energy to our training. We are delighted to see Andie skate for Clarkson.
Kristina schuler is a transfer graduate who completed 4 years at Boston University where she was assistant captain last year. The right forward will wear the # 16 for the Knights. Coach Desrosiers on Kristina, “A native of New York, Kristina comes to us from Boston University where she finished her undergraduate career last season. Kristina is a hard working 200 foot center who has a passion for be a stopping center. She will be able to share her experience and knowledge from her four year career in college to our team. Kristina has just completed a season where she was considered to kill penalties and record a time precious ice against another team’s top lines. We can’t wait to see Kristina continue her hockey career with the Greens and Gold. “
Haley winn is a 2nd generation Clarkson athlete, her father played baseball for the Golden Knights. Haley will wear number 4 and is a right back. Coach Desrosiers on Haley, âHaley is from Rochester who has been waiting for a long time to don the green and gold. She ended her career at Selects Bishop Kearney HS in Rochester as the team’s most decorated defenseman and was the team’s captain. to gain international experience with the United States U18 Women’s National Team, winning gold and silver in 2019 and 2020. Haley will add a lot of speed and offense to our blue line, and add a bit of physics to our area. We are delighted to see Haley don the Green and Gold for the Golden Knights. “
The Knights will open the season when they host Sacred Heart on September 24-25 at Cheel Arena.
