Van Cleave is also successful academically, noted Frenzen.
“Adam is academically one of the best students we have at Lakeview,” said Frenzen. “He’s at the top of his class. “
But, Van Cleave is just as active off the pitch as he is off the pitch.
“Adam has tremendous athletic talent but, more importantly, he’s a great person,” said Frenzen. “He does it well, not only on the football field, but in the classroom and then also in the community, in the service of others. He’s just a great kid in every way.
Van Cleave participates in the Center for Survivors’ Revolution program, in which students from all three Columbus high schools learn about dating violence and prevention of sexual assault. In turn, they go to other schools to educate their peers about the warning signs and what to do if a friend finds themselves in this type of situation. In addition, Van Cleave is involved in student council and Future Business Leaders of America.

“Really, everything you do is going to teach you something. “
