Kelsey Huibers and Brooklyn Franklin scored on Sunday as the Westman Wildcats edged the Eastman Selects 2-1 in Manitoba Women’s U18 AAA Midget Hockey League action Sunday in Hartney.

Westman held a 38-15 shooting lead, with Eastman cutting the Wildcats’ lead 2-0 in the third period.

McKenna Beard scored in overtime on Saturday as the Wildcats beat the visiting Central Plains Capitals 3-2. Haley Kolosky and Franklin also shot for the Wildcats, who outscored the Capitals 36-21.

The Yellowhead Chiefs also won two games this weekend, beating the Winnipeg Avros 2-0 on Sunday and the Eastman Selects 4-3 on Saturday.

Levi Derkatch opened the power-play score in Sunday’s win, and Hannah Reagh also pulled the men’s advantage in the win.

Hannah Reagh scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period on Saturday to end a 3-3 draw. Darbi Poole, Levi Derkatch and Brooklyn Cochrane also shot for Yellowhead, while Sidney McMullan took both wins in goal.
