The Wizards, Comets and Knicks won on opening night of the South Boston Parks and Recreation Department Midget and Junior Teen Basketball Leagues.

The Wizards won the opener 42-32 against the Sixers.

Griffin Bryant and Antonio Smith led the Wizards with Bryant scoring 13 points and Smith adding 11.

For the Sixers, Lucas Ashwell scored a record 17 points with five 3-pointers leading all scorers for the day.

Six of 17 free throws helped the Wizards secure the victory. The Sixers only attempted a free throw and couldn’t convert.

The Comets outscored the Hawks 23-17 in Game 2 of the night. They were led by Nathaniel Clary who scored nine points en route to victory.

The Hawks were led by LeMan Richardson who scored four points.

Helping lead to the slim victory, the Comets scored six of three points while the Hawks had no three-pointers.

In the Junior Teen League, the Knicks defeated the Hornets with a final score of 38-27.

Tyler Ford led the Knicks to victory scoring 16 points, most of which came from inside the paint.

For the Hornets, Andre Logan scored nine points from inside the paint, behind the arc and on the free throw line.

The difference in the game was the number of shots the Knicks managed to score from inside the paint, as the Hornets couldn’t compete on the inside.

The Midget League resumes Wednesday with the Hawks against the Sixers at 6 p.m. and the Wizards against the Comets at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, the Hawks will face the Wizards at 6 p.m. and the Sixers will face the Comets at 7 p.m.

The Junior Teen League resumes Wednesday with the Knicks against the Celtics at 8 p.m. and Thursday when the Celtics face the Hornets at 8 p.m.
